Preserving Our Memories Project

Dedicated to preserving the memories of those with early stage Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

As a personal historian, I am all too aware of the regrets expressed by family members who did not record their loved ones telling the stories of their lives before those memories fade from view.

“How will I be remembered?”
“Will my grandchildren remember how I am now, or will they only be able to remember the person I become once Alzheimer’s becomes more advanced?”

These are universal concerns.

The Preserving Our Memories Project is a new endeavor founded to address these concerns.

How it works:
Preserving Our Memories Project
One or more interviews are set up, usually at home, and people are given an opportunity to talk about their lives. These are captured with professional equipment, preserved on digital tape and then edited, which means nobody has to worry about their “performance”. Only the desired parts are included in the final DVD.

This interview is then combined with photos and sometimes old footage as well, with the interview audio providing a “voice over” in parts of the film. Favorite music is woven in, with the end result being an entertaining, loving and deeply personal little film on DVD which will be treasured for generations.
